There is a greedy king and each of his 100 subjects possesses 10,000 gold coins and 10,000 silver coins.

The king hired a taxman and ordered him to collect 99% of all gold from each subject. The taxman collected 9,900 gold coins from each subject, total revenues of the king are 990,000 gold coins. And each subject now has 100 gold and 10,000 silver.

But the king is greedy so he hired second taxman, and send him for second collection on the same terms. By how much will king’s revenues increase?

Answer: by 9,900 gold coins, or roughly by 1% for all this new trouble. If you do not understand why, you can stop right now.

Now back to global warming. Carbon dioxide absorbs heats in certain band of infrared wavelengths, lets call this ban "gold". In this "gold band" carbon dioxide already stops 99% of heat radiated by Earth. This always caused greenhouse effect of about 50 degrees Farenheit. The rest of wavelengths are free to pass, in "silver" band no matter how carbon dioxide is there.

Now the question: by how much will greenhouse effect increase if amount of carbon dioxide doubled?
